It seems I have some stay at home deer.
A doe early this year brought her tow fawns to visit.
They were behind my shed and inside the fence in a
pretty hard place to get out. But they finally did
and one with mom and the other went the opposite direction.
I was worried about her finding the second one
but those worries were later dashed as I have seen
them many times since here in the yard.
Now that winter has set in we see them almost
daily as they sleep here a lot so they are by the
apple trees and the fallen apples that I didn't clean up
or piled in the garden to use as mulch.
There were so many that we couldn't
can, dry, freeze dry, or give them all away
so the deer by default have been able to feed
on them as well as other plants around the yard.
I love the shadow on the tree trunk with this little one.
These are the two fawns.
Another doe with the first three.
See the vehicles go by and they just keep eating.
They are only about twenty feet from the road.
They do watch them with interest however
and are ready to turn and run if needed.
