Western Tanager in the Spring

This is a beautiful little bird. I had a large number of them decide to stop by for a few days one spring and feed on the old apples in my compost pit. It was fun trying to get close enough to them for some good pictures. Here is the sequence of one that was feeding while still keeping a close eye on me.

There are so many things to see when traveling to a destination, my hope is that you find them .

We are now to our destination Mt St Helen's.

A trip to Mt St Helens

On the way there we were afraid that we would not be able to see the summit because we were driving through rain and clouds for a good portion of the way. Then we broke out of the rain and as we went up in elevation we could look back and see the clouds still blanketing the valley.
