A Beautiful Easter Morning

What a surprise to awaken on Easter Sabbath and find 5 new inches of snow. It was so beautiful that I had to take a walk with my camera and enjoy the wonders of spring, well maybe winter still at this point.

A night of babysitting

The other night I had an opportunity to babysit my granddaughter. I decided to take some pictures of her while I was there since I always love to take her picture. So we had a little photo session. First she wanted to know why I wanted to take her picture. So I told her because I love to have pictures of her. I love to look at them when I can't be with her. She was watching a special show on the TV that her mom had set up for her before they left and even though she was watching the show she was also posing for the camera.
We finished the show and she wanted to dance. So I took pictures of her dancing. She was having a lot of fun.

I took a picture of her shoes and so she quickly told me to stop until she could put them on for a picture. Then she continued to dance with her hand puppets.
Finally she did some posing and we took a few more pictures.

The best part of the whole event however was that after every photo she would say "Can I look at it?" and then we would go back to taking the next picture. We had fun. Grandma and I love to babysit this sweet beautiful little girl. We love her very much.

A flag that has withstood the almost constant wind

This flag has now flown day and night for several months. It has been nearly always standing out from the pole like this because of the wind that always blows in that area. This flag is soon due to be mended or retired. The dark clouds behind it remind me of the dark days of the history of this country through which the United States flag has flown so faithfully carrying a promise of a better day if we do our part in preserving our rights and freedoms bought by the faithful men and women who have fought for this country under the watch of this flag.

A few minutes at the duck pond.

Well I did a photoshoot at a duck pond today and had a chance to do a few other photos while there. I have taken some of them and applied the LAB process again, see if you can tell the difference.

Another look at LAB

Recently on my way to a photo shoot in SLC I decided to take a picture of a canyon East Springville, Utah.

I have loaded two images that were just adjusted in photoshop as RGB images.

This second set of the same images were adjusted in LAB color.

My friends image adjusted with LAB color in photoshop

This is not one of my images even though I would live to claim it. It was done by a good friend of mine and the whole reason that I have posted it here is to show what can be done if the image is changed to LAB color and then an Apply Image command to bring it into the LAB mode.
Here are the steps.
1. Open the image in photoshop.
2. Go to "Image", "Mode", "LAB Color".
3. Then go to "Image", "Apply Image".
4.Then with the Apply Image window choose
Layer: Background
Channel: LAB
Blending: Multiply
(You can then adjust the opacity to the color that you desire. I left it at 100% just to show the dramatic effect that this would have on the image.)
5.Press OK and then in "Image", "Mode", RGB or CMYK which ever you need for web or print.

He did a great job on this image and has been showing me up royally with his new skills.
