Family Photo Fun

When doing any kind of pictures for families I like to try and add some back lit shot. People don't expect them but when they see them they become pretty excited. Here are a few that I did at my last family photo shoot. I really liked how these turned out mainly because the fence and the theme they had chosen with their hats seemed so perfect a fit for both.

This is another one of the images with variations of sepia toning and black and white renditions. It is always fun to play around in photoshop while completing the shoot and just see what you can come up with. I then give them to the family as well when I give them the cd of all of the images.

Sepia version

B & W version

Here we have just the sons in the picture and this time the youngest one borrowed dad's hat for the shot. Again I included a black and white version.

As I was shooting this I decided to add just a sparkle of the sun coming past the boot. I think it added just a little to the shot since it didn't dominate the scene.

Note:
Next time you go out with your camera try a few shots looking into the sun but not letting it come directly into your lens since it could cause damage to your eye and possibly the camera.
Safety First and great results last.

A little slash of fall

We have some beautiful fall colors on our mountain.

Then it decided to rain and snow.

And after the snow and a little warmth we had white mixed with the colors.

Then the neighbors bull showed up. And it had to come after the rain and the ground was totally soaked. He stepped on a couple of my pumpkins and destroyed one completely. I showed one here that it on got a part of it. Then it went through my potato patch and I was able to reach down into it's tracks and pick three potatoes.

A trip to see Great Grandpa Verl

We went to see Great Grandpa Behrmann today. He is now bedridden but had never seen his great-grandson Alex. So we went to see him. This flower was outside the house and easily 8 inches from one side to the other.

Here is a four generation picture we took today. Great Grandpa Verl, Grandma Marie, Mother Brittany and Alex.

Alice and Alex.

Dragonflies

I was outside watching this dragonfly fly around my yard. So I got my camera and tried to photograph it in flight, doesn't happen. But it did land on one of two shepherds hooks with our flower baskets. The only hook it would land on though was the one with the metal dragonfly. I did see it land one other place in the tree nearby but every time it landed after that was always on that one with the dragonfly. I wondered if by chance it knew what it was.
