Oakland LDS Temple and grounds

I love the temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This one in Oakland is beautiful just as each of the rest of them are and while we were there photographing an LDS wedding it was interesting to see that there were people who were not members of the church getting wedding pictures taken there as well and why shouldn't they since the temple and the grounds are so beautiful. Here are just a few of the images I recorded before going into the temple for the wedding.

I am focused on the Temple spire in one image and the flowers in the other image.

I thought it quite fun to see the similarity between the dead branch of the tree (below)
and the snail in the flowers (above).

Good Lenses

I just got a new camera and a new lens. The camera has an 18 meg sensor and the lens is a 28-300 l series canon lens. I like what I am getting with them. These pictures of the love sick pheasant rooster were taken from about 70 yards away with the lens at 300 mm. Then I cropped the image and it was still over 6 inches at 300 ppi. Good equipment is always good just isn't always affordable but I am glad I finally was able to get these.

Some bird time

Recently we were looking at some old home movies and the children were laughing because I would apparently get bored with what they were doing and turn the camera to things around me and tape them instead. The common things that I taped were the birds. So what can I say, I do enjoy watching birds and here are some images from today. You have to look close to see the shy one I photographed first.

Spring is here.

I love the first blossoms of spring that always come on y Apricot trees. I was a little surprised though to see a butterfly already. There was a bumblebee also that was very protective of the turf. He chased me away even when I was about 10 feet from the tree using a 300 mm lens. Very strange but I obeyed after he came real close and kept getting closer.

A walk around the field

The birds were singing and the sun was setting. A perfect time to go for a walk.

A Beautiful Easter Morning

What a surprise to awaken on Easter Sabbath and find 5 new inches of snow. It was so beautiful that I had to take a walk with my camera and enjoy the wonders of spring, well maybe winter still at this point.
