I dream a dream of being a wild life photographer

This past week at work Ann Measom came and asked if I had seen the Eagles out in the fields by the lake. I responded that I hadn't and didn't even know they were there. She explained where she had seen them and so I decided to go for a drive on Saturday and see if I could find them. Val then explained that she always saw them out by where her parents live in Palmyra. So yesterday we drove out to the area and drove around for sometime but didn't see any of the eagles. We saw hawks and plenty of farm animals but no eagles. So I drove out to Lincoln beach and then returned to the area where Val's parents lived and as we were going saw one Bald Eagle flying overhead but we couldn't get to where it was going. So I continued to drive and we saw another one fly past then we spotted a tree with 10 of them sitting in it. I parked the car and quickly started taking pictures. I then looked south and could see another tree with some so we drove down there. This time I walked trough the filed to try to get closer and they then started to fly and went to the other tree where we had been so I went back there and this time walked toward that tree. There were now 18 Eagles in the trees in that area and as I walked toward the trees this time they again flew but one of them flew right over my head. I tried to photograph it but the mono pod prevented very little stability since I had to lift the camera into the air to see the bird. I knew at that instance that being a wildlife photographer was going to take a lot more practice and much better equipment.

A look back!

I have been looking through old scrapbooks that I made many years ago to help me with a project of writing my history of my childhood. It has been fun and so today's entry is some of the pictures that I took in my youth. One from 1966 and the rest in the following 3 or 4 years.We had a cat for a lot of years and this cat was her daughter. Old Smoky was the mother and this is Flame, the daughter.

We also had several dogs as I was growing up but the first few were all killed by the neighbors poison, that he put into fresh meat to kill the dogs on purpose, shortly after Dad had brought each one home. The dog that we had for many years was somehow smart enough not to eat the bad meat. However this picture, which was actually a double exposure, would make you think PeeWee was dead.

This is a picture of Flame as a kitten.



This is Pee Wee and her two pups. Pedro, and Sparky. PeeWee had only three legs due to being caught in a trap and chewing her leg off in order to be able to come home where we then took her to a vet and had her leg properly fixed. The loss of the leg didn't stop her and she would still climb haystacks and run as she had always, just a little slower was all.


Pedro in a picture I took of him later. I think Pedro actually turned out being a female rather than a male.

This picture was a favorite of mine because it showed the playfulness in the kitten that I had on the end of the string. I won an award with this image a few years later in a photo contest at Snow College.

Local snowmobilers

We had visitors at our home today and after they had come in and warmed up then they went to leave and asked for me to take some pictures of them. It was fun only I didn't wear my snow boots and had soon filled my sneakers up with snow. But I photographed them until they waved goodbye from their apartment entrance.

Our Texans Headed Home

Well tonight we had to say goodbye to our son's family as the headed to the airport to return to Taxas. You would almost think that Brooklyn wanted to get going fast as she was trying to get down and go. However she was just wanting a balloon. We loved having them here with us over the past few days and especially for Christmas.

Hoping you all may have a wonderful Christmas and a wonderful Holiday season the rest of the week. Here are a few images of my family as we enjoyed the Christmas season which started for us with an early party as a family . Really families for me is the most important for this Christmas Day because they are such a strong evidence of the love that is given to us by the child for whom this season is celebrated. Without the love of this special child known to us as the Savior then our families could not be "Forever Families". Isn't it interesting that it is a child's face that reflects so well the Joy of this season.

I for one am so Thankful that Jesus Christ was born and lives today and that God, his Father and ours, has given us the promise that we will also live again with Them if we will but live God's commandments. I know we will have that blessing if we will but believe in this special Child on this day and every other day through the year and think of Jesus each day trying our best to be like him full of love and service to each other.

Cricut Decorations for Christmas

My granddaughter needed a cd player and so we got her one for Christmas. My daughter wanted to decorate it for her though and the images following are what she came up with for her. Using her Cricut she cut out the letters and flowers from Vinyl and then had fun.

And here was the results when she opened it. McKinsey really loved it.

And since she had decorated Kinsey's present she also had to decorate her older sister's Cuttlekid as well. She did a great job on both. Kasia loved it also.

What do people do when they don't blog?

I don't know what other people do but for me ,well, I get to the honey-do lists and do them. Here is the shower that I should have put in when the house was built but now that the children are all married it is time to put it in so they have a place to shower when they come back with their families. It was a fun adventure and thank goodness I have a new son-in-law that knew how to put in the grout, he did it a lot faster than I could have. Anyway here are the almost final results. I did put the silicon caulk around it yesterday to finish it up but that was after I took the pictures.
