Hell's Backbone bridge

Between Escalante and Boulder there is a road
that goes up into the Boulder mountains and crosses
over a narrow area where the water flow goes
two directions from the ridge line.
The manmade bridge over that narrow section
is called Hell's Backbone bridge.

The trees and rock formations and the
instant drop off for both sides are amazing
things to behold.
Here are a few images that cannot do
justice to the actual feeling you get
when you stand on the bridge and look off both sides.

The color in the dead wood is beautiful
and the twisting of the tree as it grew
must indicate the pressure of the winds
crossing the area.

A view of the bridge before descending the last section
of road from the top of the mountain.

The view off one side of the bridge

 Growing on the edge, literally.

I felt much more at ease when I got back into the
forest leading to the bridge.
