Hovenweep National Monument

When I first started to look at the information on
Hovenweep I found what appeared to be only a
single ruin. I figured it probably wouldn't be worth my
time to go look but we had been through
Mesa Verde the day before and decided
that we just as well go see it.
I was surprised by the number of dwellings
and decided it was well worth it.
We did the loop and it it didn't take very long
and we were sure glad that we did.
There are usually two views of each since
the hike takes you around the area
on both sides of the canyon so you see them
up close and across the canyon.

From Cortez to Silverton round trip back through Delores

This is only a few of the images I took as we traveled
on the highway from Cortez to Durango to Silverton
and on through Ouray and Delores back to Cortez.
It took us about 5 hours since I was constantly
stopping to take pictures of the incredible scenery.

This statue of Christ is up on the hill in
Silverton, a symbol of protection to the miners.

There were a few Big Horn sheep near the road
so I had to stop and take their pictures.

I loved the shadows form the sun through the trees
onto the very white and bright snow.
