There has been one thing that I have wanted
to see for years and that is a calving glacier.
I saw it on this trip and really enjoyed it.
The jagged points of the ice struck me quite forcefully
as I thought of the pressure behind this ice flow.
The following are some of the calving sequences.
I thought that the pieces we saw fall were
pretty small but then I considered the distance
that we were from the glacier and the size
then became pretty awesome.
Aialik Glacier, one mile wide.
