Power Down

I was walking back from the pavilion
when I heard a fairly distinctive explosion.
It was snowing lightly and had been all day.
I looked toward the sound and saw a power pole falling over.
It had been burning in the middle of the pole and finally gave way.

We were without power for about 8 hours and learned some good things from it.
My generator refused to start.
The flashlights that we have hung by the door
in each room were in need of a little fresher batteries.
They gave off light but not much so we replaced the batteries.
We had no second source of heat which wouldn't have been
too much of a problem had there not been a baby in the house.
Other than that things were pretty well set.
