Marriott Center Renovation (Part 1)

The Marriott Center on BYU campus is one of the largest
university basketball arenas in the United States.
Recently it started to have a renovation take place that will
remove old seats and replace it with less.
The following are just some quick shots that I have taken
to show progress on the event.
Two weeks prior to the start we held the April
commencement program and one week prior the
Women's Conference.
This shows some of the seating to be removed.

May 1 the project started at the conclusion of the
Women's Conference closing assembly.
The following Monday all of the seats were piled
on the basketball floor now covered
with two tarps, a layer of 3/4 inch particle board,
foam sheets and a final layer of 3/4 inch board.

The concourse then had a race track of sorts built on it
to move heavy items and equipment.

Plastic sheeting was paced over the section of
blue chairs installed a couple of years ago to protect them.

Now a large plastic tent is being installed to help
keep the dust under control as they cut the cement
to prepare for new cement that will add more
legroom for the new seats.

The current scoreboard is also scheduled
to be replaced this summer.
We are now in a hard hat area.
